MCI at Singapore Math Administrators Symposium in Nashville and Chicago



On 24-25 Jan 2011 and 27-29 Jan 2011, curriculum directors across the US converged in these cities for the symposium. MCI gave several presentations to give the administrators a learning experience to help them see the unique features of mathematics teacher professional development that MCI provides.


The national-level event was attended by about 120 participants while the one in Nashville had about 60 participants.

MCI's Lesson Study Programme Kong Hwa School

Kong Hwa School is the first to begin on this unique programme where lesson study teams are guided by MCI academic team to complete one or two cycles of lesson study. The first session on 19 Jan 2011 was designed to give the nine lesson study yeams (called PLTs) an overview with an emphasis on setting professional learning goal (research theme) and carrying out initial lesson planning.

MCI at Learn Different

Learn Different is a newly set up international school in Singapore. They cater to children with special learning needs. MCI conducted two half-day workshop on mathematics teaching for its teachers in January and February 2011.

MCI at 20th National Conference on School Science & Mathematics in Chiangrai, Thailand

Marshall Cavendish Institute was represented by Dr Yeap Ban Har at this conference. MCI was invited to participate in a plenary panel on the topic of science and mathematics education in Japan, Korea, Singapore and Thailand.

This conference was organized by Institute for Promotion of Science and Technology and Chiangrai Rajabhat University, Thailand.
